Liam Smedley
Story Highlight
All about Liam Smedley
With the looks of Screech from ‘Saved by the Bell’, the dress sense of Will from ‘The Inbetweeners’ and the bitterness of Alan Partridge, Liam has been involved with Viking FM since his work experience in 2005 at the tender age of 15.
Since then he’s done loads of stuff behind the scenes such as ‘technical operating’ during outside broadcasts and high profile events as well as being a member of our ‘Street Team’ who you may have seen out and about.
At 17, Liam started presenting our overnight shows 1am-6am in the morning! But then he didn’t get a second series for a while so went off and presented shows for our sister stations Magic 1161 and Kerrang Radio.
Back in 2010, after a summer of random on air appearances, the boss trusted him to take on Saturday 10am-2pm, which of course features the world famous Top Ten @ 10…with the threat of having his ‘legs broken’ by Producer Kenny if he messed it up!
During the week Liam is at College in his final year, studying a degree in Broadcast Media, which will provide him with a piece of paper to say he can be a half average Radio Presenter.
In his spare time, Liam has been writing and performing Stand Up Comedy since 2009. He travels far and wide in his Mum’s Peugeot 206 to share the social mishaps of his incontinent Golden Retriever and unorthodox driving instructor with audiences alike.
Two years in a row, Liam has taken part in ‘The Art of Comedy Workshop and Showcase’ (which won ‘Best Show’ at the Hull Comedy Festival Awards in 2009). He reached the final of the prestigious C69 New Act of the Year 2010.
