Chris Johnson
Story Highlight
about Chris Johnson
It's fair to say our Mr Johnson has been about a bit and has sniffed more milk in more radio stations fridges than most...
Starting off his glittering showbiz career delivering cliché-fuelled travel news to the north of England (e.g "...traffic's bumper to bumper out there...") Chris was offered a job looking after our overnight weekend shows at 96.9 Viking FM. He spent a couple of years broadcasting to the creatures of the night..with his nocturnal blend of great music and top quality features such as 'Shiver Me Timbers' (ie. they were rubbish but passed the time on the long nights). Chris was eventually replaced by a ZX Spectrum computer which surprisingly did exactly the same job, at a fraction of the cost. He regularly cropped up though as a stand-in/holiday/sickness/ can't-be-bothered-turning-up-cos-i'm drunk- presenter when the required.
After he left the overnight shows he then reappeared presenting the Sunday Jukebox on our sister station Magic 1161. The boss told him "if they ask for it, play it" - but it was a different story in the disciplinary hearing when he was called to explain why he'd played 'Anarchy In The UK' followed by 'From Paris To Berlin'. Well, if they ask for it...
Having worked at radio stations in Wakefield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Bradford the call then came from us for Chris to be part of our Feel Good Weekend team.
Chris is here Sat and Sunday morning between 6am - 10am. Usually eating whilst playing music.
