Aladdin’s Treasure (PS2 and PC)

Aimed at children, Aladdin is an average game which has attracted two former Spooks’s (BBC TV) stars, Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes (who was also the latest voice of Lara Croft).

With two successful actors putting their name to the game we hoped that is would be rewarding, unfortunately unless you are buying the game for a child then you will be disappointed.

Set in the desert and playing as Aladdin you must rescue Princess Jasmine from the clutches of evil sorcerer, Jafar.

The game is on the small size, and as a consequence doesn’t take long to complete.  Progress through the game comes in the form of completing various puzzles.  While flying around on your magic carpet you will come across caves containing a sliding block puzzle which on completion produces a key.

Also, in the desert you will come across temples unlocked by the keys from the caves.  Within each of the temples are more complicated puzzles.  In total there are four temples, The Temple of Ilat, Atargatis, Al-uzza and Ilmuqah.  The puzzles inside the temples are reminiscent of the 90s TV show Crystal Maze.

The Quest for Aladdin’s Treasure has a definite target market (younger children), and so in terms of playability it is fairly limited; older children and adults will find the game too easy to play.  However the game's younger audience is reflected in the price and it is available to buy now from £19.99.
